The Fraser Fir was named after John Fraser, a Scottish botanist who explored the southern Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina in the late 1700's.

The Fraser Fir can grow to a maximum height of about 80 feet and have a trunk diameter of 1 foot to 1 1/2 feet.  The fir is a pyramid shape and has flat needles that are dark green in color.

The majority of Fraser Fir Christmas trees are grown in North Carolina because of the ideal growing climate.  In ideal situations it usually takes 7-10 years to grow a 6-7 feet Christmas tree.
